Paprika is one of the most widely-used spices around the world, and we believe it can mean the difference between a great dish and unforgettable dish. That's why we spent two years trying paprika from around the globe to find the very best and bring it to culinary enthusiasts in the United States. After trying over 400 different types of paprika, we were absolutely blown away by the flavors of four:
- 1 Sweet Californian variant - We spent several weeks in beautiful southern California and happened to find the best sweet Californian paprika (our favorite) we have ever tasted. California paprika is ground from a deep red hybrid pepper grown in California and has a faint note of lemon. This variant is a great choice if you're looking for color and garnish appeal.
- 1 Sweet Hungarian variant - Sweet Hungarian paprika is the one to use for your favorite goulash or deviled eggs. This paprika has a full, sweet pepper flavor without the heat. This particular paprika is from the famous Kalocsa region of Hungary and bears the name Csemege, or “Exquisite Delicacy.
- 1 Half-Sharp Hungarian variant - Ground from a hotter paprika pepper in the same region of Hungary: this paprika is the Hungarian Sweet paprika's hotter cousin!
- 1 Hot Spanish variant - The hottest of all variants, Hot Spanish paprika adds an incredible kick to many famous dishes, especially from Spain and the Mediterranean area. Delicious sprinkled on many of your favorite foods, Spanish Hot Paprika gives a unique characteristic to any dish without overpowering it. Perfect for soups, sauces, and rubs.
